Our New Web Site has launched - http://www.the-it-dept.co.uk

The new web site for The IT Dept was launched on 1st Feb 2011 - to extremely favourable comments. The new site is available at www.the-it-dept.co.uk. (If you'd like to compare the new web site to the old site, that is still available at http://www.the-it-dept.co.uk/old-site/)

The new web site has been designed to load much more quickly, mainly by using fewer graphics in the page and less coding overall. Google is rumoured to have added page loading speed to the secretive algorithm used to determine page ranking - i.e. how close to the top of Google's listings you appear. The new site is about 40% faster to load than the old site, (According to the useful tool at http://www.websiteoptimization.com/services/analyze/)

We also believe that the cleaner, fresher look of the new site will be more appealing to the business users we are aiming to attract. To achieve this we took excellent advice through a website audit from Heather Carey of Font57 (www.font57.com)

The type of users we are aiming at include all business computer users throughout Lancashire. As we are based in Chorley we are ideally placed to reach Blackburn, Bolton, Bury, Clitheroe, Darwen, Leyland, Preston, Wigan etc, extremely quickly. And whenever we can we offer Remote Computer Support, to reduce the time taken to fix your computer problems as well as our carbon footprint.

This new web site will be adapted slightly over the next few weeks to include more of Heather's tips and tricks - so add us to your Favourites and keep coming back for more!
