Business Alert on Data Protection Act registrations

The NW Lancs Chamber of Commerce has sent a warning to all of their Members, which has come originally from Lancashire Trading Standards, about a company using a Blackpool PO Box, (DPA Registrations), which has been sending out letters warning that you must register your Company under the Data Protection Act. They request a fee for this registration.

It is a legal requirement for most organisations processing or storing personal data to register with the Information Commissioners Office, but this is easily done by calling or emailing to request a registration form, and costs only £35 for a business to register itself.
